Mission
The mission assumed by the department
The Department of Statistics and Economic Informatics has as its central mission the development of research and education activities at the highest qualitative level within the coordinated scientific fields.
The vision of the Economic Informatics study program responds to the need to train future economists, specialists in the management of information systems, capable of practicing in the national and international environment, in Romania as well as in EU countries and beyond. The Economic Informatics specialization prepares specialists with an important methodological horizon in the field of information technologies, but also with solid economic knowledge. This double specialization offers students the necessary interdisciplinary training, predominantly applied, so that they can fit perfectly into both the economic and the IT fields. Graduates benefit from a good placement on the labor market, within various companies, and the knowledge acquired in the undergraduate university cycle allows them to follow the master's courses offered in the field, namely the master's degree program in Electronic Business Management. The mission of the Economic Informatics study program is to train highly competent specialists, who will contribute to the analysis and development of efficient information systems at the level of the organizations in which they will be employed, capable of managing in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment. It is a challenging specialization, oriented mainly on projects and applications. The undergraduate university studies provide basic training, fundamental knowledge of business administration, as well as skills in the field of information technologies specific to the operational level within companies. The ability to approach interdisciplinary economic processes, activities, as well as technologies and information systems to support them leads to the crystallization of specific competencies in the analysis, modeling and implementation of business information systems, database management, website design and implementation, implementation of integrated business information systems, as well as specific competencies in the management of IT development projects for the business environment.
The vision of the Statistics and Economic Forecasting study program responds to the need to train future economists, specialists in statistics and forecasting, capable of practicing in the national and international environment, in Romania as well as in EU countries and beyond. As such, the vision of the study program can be formulated as follows: "we act to train future generations of Romanians capable of acting as professionals in the field of statistics and economic forecasting, competent and internationally competitive, capable of improving their lives and the world around them." The mission of the Statistics and Economic Forecasting study program is to train specialists in the fields of statistics and forecasting with a high level of professional training, capable of meeting the requirements of the contemporary economy and carrying out their activities in specialized institutions or in any other organization where data processing is necessary. Students are trained by completing a number of mandatory, optional and facultative subjects, according to the attached curriculum and analytical programs, but also by completing internships within economic agents with which the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration has various partnerships. The foundation of the Statistics and Economic Forecasting study program is based on an economic vision of the world, both at the macroeconomic level, of society as a whole, and at the microeconomic level, that of organizations, from all areas of economic and social life. For this reason, the future economist-statistician will better understand the economic processes on which society functions, as well as the role that each organization plays in the process of creating greater wealth and generating a better and more sustainable standard of living for the members of society.
